Meirion Thomas (Pastor)

Meirion became a Christian while at school in Llanelli. Having always been ‘respectably religious’ he came to see his need of Jesus as a personal Saviour. He worked for some years with student Christian Unions before being an Assistant Pastor here at Malpas Road Evangelical Church. Following this, Meirion returned to his home Church in Pontarddulais as their first Pastor; he held this position for eleven years. In 1999 he returned to Malpas Road with his wife Ceri and their three children to be the 14th Pastor in 120 years! The Thomas’ have four grandchildren and nearly always holiday in Wales. They, both being first language welsh speakers, love all things Welsh. Meirion enjoys classical music, murder mystery books and films, and likes a good political debate (in mild moderation).

Meirion is supported by his wife, Ceri, who is actively involved in many activities in the church, including the women’s work and tots. Together they form a great partnership.

Dafydd Williams (Assistant Pastor)

Dafydd comes from the town of Gorseinon and having spent 4 years studying for a Masters at Aberystwyth University he moved to Malpas Road in September 2016 where he joined the team as a Ministry Apprentice. His ministry continued in September 2018 when his role changed to that of Trainee Pastor, and then in September 2020 he became Assistant Pastor. Dafydd is involved in leading the youth work and assisting local schools work, along with supporting various other church activities. Alongside this, Dafydd enjoys regular speaking opportunities here at MREC and at other local churches. He is currently a student with the Evangelical Movement of Wales Theological Training Course so has weekly opportunity for personal study. Despite moving east he still remains a firm Swansea City supporter, while also enjoying swimming and playing the guitar.

Dafydd is supported by his wife, Claire, who is actively involved in church work, in particular the youth ministry.

The Pastors of the church are supported by a team of Elders and Deacons.
